A Weekend in Walla Walla

Some friendly goats from Monteillet Fromagerie in Dayton, WA

A trip to Walla Walla for a friend’s birthday proved to be fruitful in many ways.  Making the drive to celebrate Sarah’s 40th, I was surprised to stumble on a little wine bar in Prosser, called Wine O’Clock.  Perfectly located to appear when your stomach begins to growl, Wine O’Clock’s wood burning oven produced delicious pizza and a market fresh salad brimming with local, heirloom tomatoes.

Continuing along to Walla Walla, my son, Max and I had just enough time to get cleaned up before going to the jimgermanbar’s private party room, appropriately called “Heaven” in Waitsburg, WA, where a camel and party guests gathered.  That’s right!  Just what every party needs, a camel!

My son, Max (stylishly dressed, thanks to Sidira!) poses in front of the party camel.

The food was great, the sparkling pink wine was delicious, the dessert was amazing, and the dance floor fun!

Jim and Claire, the owners of jimgermanbar were kind enough to prepare an amazing brunch the next morning, and make a call to Erin at Monteillet Fromagerie, who opened up just for us!

After a lovely tasting, we decided to bring back a couple of brie style cheeses to serve at Marjorie, and couldn’t resist the eggs and great looking produce as well.  The beautiful tomatoes, chard, squash and eggplant will probably taste more delicious since we picked it ourselves.

To make the ride palatable, we stopped at my favorite little taco truck.  With sated bellies and a car full of produce and cheese, we were ready to head back to Seattle and share the fruits of our weekend with Marjorie!
